Lighthouse
solace in safe harbour
a dialogue of experience, movement & materiality. Documented through a multimedia installation consisting of painting, visual projections & recorded audioscapes.
A cube of warm light, the artwork explores elements of home - a perfect bit of space you feel safe in - speaking to maritime voyages, warnings of danger as well as beacons of safe harbour. So much of my work is centred on my experiences of motion; memories of landscapes in swirls of paint that explore the notions of being 'at sea' & the feelings of uncertainty that come with being an immigrant in a different country. Constantly trying to ground one's self, something difficult to do, often stormy & tumultuous

I plan to evolve the lighthouse project that is central to my practice into new, dynamic mediums that engage theories of relational aesthetics & scale. Developing my painting practice into areas of objecthood & installation.

I hope to call viewers to experience the idea of the lighthouse from alternative perspectives: to step inside & participate within a painting, feel their own physicality in relation to the paint and light around them.
